Token Man Comedy
Token Man Comedy is a fantastic comedy night at The Exchange which always seeks to feature women comedians as well as including a ‘Token Man’ in the line-up.
We present the best in female comedy and female comedians but because we think it’s important to be inclusive, we always have a chap on the bill and he’s always one of the good ones so fear not!
Reversing the zeitgeist of the traditional, box ticking girl, on most traditional comedy nights or game show panels, we thought it would be fun to see how it works the other way round.
Headliner Suzi Ruffell
Regarded as one of the best up-and-coming acts, Suzi won best club comic at the 2019 Chortle Awards. It has been a busy few years for Suzi, with three sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival resulting in her recording her show Keeping It Classy for Live from the BBC – released last summer – and a clip racking up over 16 million views on Facebook. Her shows receive critical acclaim, and have nabbed her the working-class comedy crown of her generation. Suzi has most recently appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock The Week, Roast Battle, Ultimate Worrier, Hypothetical, Stand Up Central and Comedy Central at the Comedy Store.
Suzi is also a regular on BBC Radio 4 including The News Quiz and The Now Show, as well as co-hosting the hit podcast Like Minded Friends with Tom Allen.
Opening – Kate Lucas
Award winning musical comedian Kate Lucas is known for her razor sharp and deliciously dark songs. She combines catchy melodies with original lyrics to showcase her playfully bitter musings on life. Audiences have come to expect examples of what not to say and how not to behave from this gloriously talented comic.
In 2014 she took home the title for the prestigious Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year and her performances since have been met with huge critical acclaim.
‘Wickedly naughty and deliciously dark’
‘A true musical genius’
Carrieanne – Redneck Comedian
Carrieanne is an all American girl from the US state of North Carolina. After it was discovered that she was a lesbian, Carrieanne left her job as a deputy sheriff and bought a one way ticket to the United Kingdom where she started her comedy career.
TOKEN MAN – Darren Altman – Impressionist

At the end of his audition, Darren received incredible comments from all 4 judges, who simultaneously rose to their feet and gave him a standing ovation. Their praise was unanimous:
Simon Cowell – “Of all the years we’ve had impressionists on this show, I genuinely think this is the best and most original act we’ve had. Absolutely hilarious Darren, a million percent yes!”
Alesha Dixon – “Very simple, brilliantly funny from start to finish. Every impression was spot on. It was a faultless audition; I’m very excited about you.”
Amanda Holden – “What I loved about this act was that it was really intelligent and different. I loved the way each voice morphed into the next.”
David Walliams – “It was brilliantly funny from start to finish and a lot of those impressions I’ve never heard people do before. I’m excited about what you’re going to do next.”
