Parallel Mothers (Spain, 2021)

Richmond Film Society’s 59th Season opens at The Exchange with ‘Parallel Mothers’, the latest multi-award winning film from RFS favourite Pedro Almodóvar.

Starring Penelope Cruz, this is the story of two mothers who bond in an unexpected way after giving birth on the same day, set against the backdrop of an archaeological search for victims of Franco’s forces during the Spanish Civil War. Both are single and became pregnant by accident.  The few words they exchange in these hours will create a close link between the two, which develops, complicates and changes their lives in a decisive way.

  • Tuesday 20th September 2022 | 8:00pm
  • Tickets: £5 (£3 full-time students) | RFS members go free.
  • Rating: 15
  • Runtime: 123 minutes
  • Written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar

About Richmond Film Society

Richmond Film Society was formed in 1963 and has since screened nearly 850 films. Our objective was, and remains, to bring our community the very best in World Cinema. Our seasons run from September to June and, in the absence of COVID-19 restrictions,  attract an aggregate audience of over 4,500 attendees. Season 59 will comprise 19 films of international repute, including features from Europe, The Middle East, South America and Asia.

Films are shown on alternate Tuesdays at 8:00 pm sharp, with no ads or trailers. On screening nights, the bar opens at 7:00 p.m. and drinks can be brought into the auditorium. Film notes are available online for each screening and audience scores and feedback are collated.

Membership for Season 59 Closed

Owing to renewals from the vast majority of Season 58 members and a very high proportion of joiners from our Membership Waiting List, we have now reached capacity and regret that we are not in a position to offer any further memberships for Season 59. We do, however, intend to make non-member tickets available for all individual screenings in Season 59, with those for the initial films of the season available to purchase from 15 August.

Non-Member Tickets for this film will be on sale from 15 August

Subject to developments, from 15th August we intend to make 50 non-member tickets  available to purchase for individual screenings in Season 59. Non-member tickets will remain at £5 (full-time students £3) and can be purchased in advance from The Exchange’s Box Office online, by telephone 020 8240 2399, or in person. To ensure that you secure a ticket and avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend early pre-booking via The Exchange once tickets become available for sale. When non-member tickets were last available for sale (prior to COVID-19),  the limit of 50 non-member tickets was reached for most films well in advance of the screening dates.

Should any non-member tickets remain available on the night of screenings, these can be now be purchased solely from The Exchange’s box office on the ground floor. Purchases are now by contactless payments only – cash payments are no longer accepted. *All non-member tickets are now SOLD OUT and there will NOT be any tickets available on the night*
