Our resident comedy night returns for a Xmas special! We welcome an exciting line-up of comedians including the in demand Daman Bamrah, Kate Smurthwaite, Andrew Ryan and Freya McGheee.

Join us for an evening of festive fun and kick off your December the right way… laughing!

Irishman Andrew Ryan made his comedy circuit debut in 2008 when he spontaneously entered an open mike contest. Fast-forward to 2018 and he is now one of the most sought-after comics in recent years, in demand as a headliner and an MC at the biggest comedy clubs and festivals across Ireland and the UK.

Andrew’s storytelling abilities and cheeky, friendly demeanour makes him a natural observational stand-up.

In 2018 he won Best New Show at The Leicester Comedy Festival with his show Is Everything Alright at Home? Andrew will be returning to the Edinburgh Festival with this show in 2020.

Andrew has been tour support for Jason Manford and will also be opening for John Bishop on his next tour.

Kate Smurthwaite is a left wing, feminist, atheist, polyamorous comedian and activist. She is also the host and star of the News at Kate video series.

She performs stand-up comedy at all the major clubs in the UK and around the world. She was most recently touring her 14th one-woman show Bitch which previewed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In 2013 she won a Three Week’s Editor’s Choice Award naming her One of the Ten Best Things about the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2014 she was nominated for the Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize for campaigning against violence against women.

Kate has appeared as a panelist on Question Time, The Big Questions, This Morning, BBC News, Sky News, Woman’s Hour, The Today Program, The Moral Maze and Newsnight.

Kate has written for a huge range of publications including The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, The Mirror, Cosmopolitan, Stylist, New Statesman and New Internationalist.

Freya McGhee moved to Brighton to study Chemistry but found a passion for the lab bubble into live comedy instead. A self-deprecating style matched with a determination to seek revenge on ex-boyfriends, McGhee’s relatable style ensures a chemical bond with all audiences.

She has trained at both Brighton Komedia and Angel Comedy club. At the 2022 Brighton Fringe, Freya and fellow comics, Carl & Alex, took the stage to perform their debut panel show ‘Proper Job’

Daman Bamrah is one of the most exciting and unique new comic voices to emerge from the London circuit. A British-Sikh performer with energy, raw wit and heart, the in demand Daman is known for his topical writing, acute observations and imaginative storytelling. His blend of carefully crafted jokes along with his signature charm have already secured him top spots at the country’s leading venues including Angel Comedy Club, Up The Creek and The Museum of Comedy.

Daman began performing improv while at university and went onto train with the prestigious ‘Second City’  before applying his skills to stand up. Since then he has built up his accolades racing to the semi-finals of So You Think You’re Funny?, and being a finalist for the Max Turner Award, Monty’s Stand Up Nights, Comedy Virgins Summer Competition and winning Up the Creek’s notorious new show The Blackout.
