Hard Choices: What Britain Does Next£6 – £15
Presented by Arts Richmond: Peter Rickets in conversation with Geeta Guru-Murthy
Join one of Britain’s most experienced diplomats, Peter Ricketts, in a stimulating talk addressing the key dilemmas now faced by the UK.
Disastrous foreign wars, global recession, the meteoric rise of new global powers and the Covid pandemic – in a fast-moving world, Britain has hard choices to make.
Ricketts’ recently published book provides a lucid and ground-breaking analysis of the issues in play as the international order put in place after World War II comes to an end.
He argues that international co-operation and solidarity will be the surest way to prosper. But it is the younger generation who may find the most creative answers to decisions we must make in the years ahead.
Peter Ricketts has been at the heart of Britain’s foreign policy for more than 30 years. He has served as Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee, UK Permanent Representative to NATO, Permanent Secretary in the Foreign Office and Ambassador to France.
He has written for the FT, The Times, the New Statesman and Prospect, and regularly appears on Sky News.
In conversation with Ricketts will be journalist and BBC News presenter Geeta Guru-Murthy.
